The new Cascade/Maverik media top 20 poll is out, and YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles.... are still not in the top 20. They are, however, still receiving votes following Saturday's 9-7 win over Bellarmine.
While the Golden Eagles are still getting votes in the poll, they have slid backwards one spot. They were sitting in the unofficial #22 spot in the preseason poll as well as the first in season edition of the Top 20, but now they're at #23. Ohio State (a future Marquette opponent) and Stony Brook are now in front of them. Fellow Big East team Villanova now sits one spot behind Marquette in the Receiving Votes department, while Richmond, Saturday's opponent for Marquette, is the final team that picked up any votes in this week's polling.
The top 20 is still loaded up with teams that Marquette will face this season. Notre Dame and Denver are still undefeated on the season and occupy the top two spots in that order. Denver knocked off Duke over the weekend, sliding the Blue Devils down to #5 in the poll. Georgetown is the final MU opponent in the top 20, coming in at #17 after suffering a 12-7 loss to Notre Dame in their opener.
Marquette squares off with Richmond in Virginia at noon Central on Saturday. Video is available from the Spiders, but because they're jerks, it'll cost you $5.
