After Saturday's victory over Robert Morris, YOUR Marquette men's lacrosse squad continues to pick up votes in the newest Cascade/Maverik media top 20 poll.
The Golden Eagles are fifth on the "Also Receiving Votes" line, trailing Army, Ohio State, UMass and High Point. It's a little odd to see Marquette so deep on the list there, as the voters jumped Richmond up to the #18 spot in the poll. On one hand, the Spiders beat then #9 Duke 12-10. On the other hand, Marquette beat Richmond 7-2 earlier this season. It's actually a slide backwards for Marquette, as they were actually the unofficial #22 team in the country a week ago, but now they're down to the unofficial #25.
There are still two future Marquette opponents at the top of the poll, but they've now flipped places. Notre Dame was the #1 team in the country since the preseason poll came out, but they're now #2 in the rankings. That's because they lost 9-8 to the new #1 and previous #2 team, Denver, by a final margin of 9-8.
Following a 16-8 destruction of Penn State, Villanova has bounced from #12 in the country up to #7. Following their loss to Richmond, Duke has slid down to #11 in the rankings.
Marquette returns to action on Saturday when they visit Quinnipiac, with faceoff set for 11am Central.
