WATCH LIVE: Markus Howard & Team USA vs Lithuania In FIBA U17 World Championship Semifinals

The Baby Nats are just two games away from claiming a fourth straight U17 gold medal for the U.S.

After thrashing South Korea in the quarterfinals by more than 50 points, Team USA advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship.

Why are we mentioning this here, on your favorite Marquette athletics website/blog/The O.C. recap site? Well, because incoming men’s basketball freshman Markus Howard is on Team USA, that’s why. Even more importantly, FIBA is going to be streaming all of the games on their YouTube channel, and we wanted to give you a chance to watch Howard in action.

Howard had a quiet game against South Korea, finishing with seven points, three rebounds, and three assists. His usually reliable three point shooting failed him this time around, as Howard went 1/4 on long range shots. That dropped him down to only 50% from three point land in the tournament, as he’s now 12/24.

Friday’s game against Lithuania starts at 2pm Central, and here’s the video, thanks to FIBA enabling embedding of the video streams.

Friday’s game is also scheduled to be broadcast on ESPNU, so you can catch it there, and on WatchESPN as well.

According to this handy dandy roster from USA Basketball, Howard will be wearing #5 for the Baby Nats, but don’t get used to that. He’ll be wearing #0 when he gets to Milwaukee this fall.

While Howard will matriculate at Marquette immediately after finishing up with Team USA, there’s a couple of his teammates that have a chance to follow in his footsteps. Marquette has shown some level of interest in both Carte’Are Gordon (2018 top 100 power forward, wearing #13) and Immanuel Quickley (2018 top 25 point guard, wearing #4), so keep an eye on those guys, too.

The winner of USA/Lithuania advances to Sunday’s championship game, where they’ll take on the winner of Turkey/Spain. That game starts at 11:30am CT, and you can stream it right here.
