Celtics 88, Mavericks 82 - A 21-7 run in the third quarter combined with 26 total points from Terry Rozier gave the men from Boston the advantage over the team from Dallas on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas. Rozier did most of his damage from the free throw line, going 13-19 on freebies. Jaylen Brown added a double-double for the Celtics, getting 20 points and 10 rebounds, and his four steals were pretty helpful, too. The Mavericks were led in defeat by Justin Anderson and Jonathan Gibson who had 29 and 26 points respectively. Anderson also had 11 rebounds in the game.
Vander Blue saw nearly 13 minutes of action for Dallas. He went 2-5 from the floor, but missed all three of his long range attempts. He finished with four points, two rebounds, and an assist.
It’s now win or go home time in Vegas (kind of), as tournament play begins on Wednesday. There is a consolation bracket, of course, but losses by the Mavericks or the Lakers will start heading this series of updates to its conclusion for the year. The Lakers finished 3-0 and through tiebreakers ended up with the #2 seed, giving them a first round bye. The Mavericks are the #15 seed, which sounds bad to college basketball fans, but there’s 24 teams in the Vegas Summer League.
