But those are the only two teams getting preseason votes that Marquette will see this season.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the preseason top 25 for NCAA Division 1 men’s soccer back on August 2nd. The men’s preseason poll is pretty much the exact opposite of the women’s poll, at least when viewed through a Marquette lens. While the women will only be facing teams that got votes in the non-conference section the schedule, MU’s men’s soccer team will have to face two preseason top 10 teams during Big East action.

Creighton will start the season ranked #7 in the country after finishing 2015 ranked #6. Georgetown slips into the top 10 in the very final spot available. The Hoyas are coming off of an undefeated Big East season a year ago, and they were ranked #8 by the NSCAA in last year’s final poll.

Marquette will actually play Creighton and Georgetown in back to back matches this season. They’ll host the Hoyas on Saturday, October 8th, before heading to Omaha to take on the Bluejays one week later. Those two games mark the midway point of the conference schedule, as MU will have four matches remaining after the Creighton contest.

Marquette will play three exhibition matches starting with Wright State at Valley Fields tonight at 7:05pm. The regular season gets started when the Golden Eagles host Kentucky on Friday, August 26th.
