On Tuesday night, YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles defeated the #1 ranked Villanova Wildcats by a final of 74-72.
On Wednesday, head coach Steve Wojciechowski expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm of the crowd in attendance through a hand written note that was emailed/tweeted/et cetera’d to everyone.

In case you can’t make out Wojo’s handwriting, this is what it says:
Dear Marquette -
I want to express my sincere appreciation for all the energy you brought to the Bradley Center last night. You all were a huge part of our win! Your enthusiasm was so uplifting to our players.
We all have alot (sic) of work to do. Let’s build on this moment.
Saturday is a huge game for our program against a talented and well coached team. Let’s have another great environment. We need you!
Go Marquette -
Coach Wojo
Well, that was nice, wasn’t it?
I can say this for certain: While the Bradley Center was nowhere near filled to capacity (and shame on those of you, students and regular season ticket holders alike, who had tickets to the game and just passed on going, because I know you’re out there, I saw the seats), the rise of sound as the team fought back from down 14 late in the second half rivaled any of the other reactions I’ve seen in my 20 years of regular attendance at home games. Something special happened in that game, in those closing moments, and it’s a memory I’ll treasure forever.
We can make it even better by helping the team protect our fortress by bringing that vigor and enthusiasm again and again as Wojo gets things rolling in the direction he always intended.
Wojo’s right. WE have a lot of work to do. MU needs at least five more wins to lock up a postseason berth. The first chance for one of those is on Saturday against Providence. See y’all there.
