This coming weekend, the top four Big East women’s volleyball teams will gather in Milwaukee at Marquette’s Al McGuire Center to determine who gets the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Creighton Bluejays won the regular season title with a record of 16-2 in league play. They will square off against #4 seed Villanova Wildcats in the first of the two semifinal matches. The Wildcats (18-11, 11-7 Big East) needed a 2-0 weekend to wrap up the regular season in order to snag the final spot in the bracket and got it, including a 3-0 victory against the Bluejays on Friday night.
In the second semifinal, #2 seed Marquette Golden Eagles will pair off with #3 seed Butler Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles went 15-3 in league play, but lost one time each to the other three teams in the tournament. In fact, their loss to their semifinal opponent came on the self same court where the semifinal match will be played. Butler won 11 of their final 13 matches to play their way into the top four and when you combine that with their five set victory over Marquette, you have to figure they’ll be brimming with confidence when match time rolls around.
The semifinal matches are set for this Friday, November 24th, at the Al McGuire Center on Marquette’s campus. Creighton/Villanova will get things started at 12:30pm Central time, with the Marquette/Butler contest coming up at 2:30pm and/or after the first match ends. Both contests will be streamed for free via the Big East Digital Network on Fox Sports Go. Saturday’s championship match between the semifinal victors will start at 1:30pm Central and will be televised on FS2.
Tickets are available through the Marquette ticket office, or will probably be available on a walk up basis as well.
