Yesterday was a mixed bag of results in the second round of the 2017 NCAA tournament. On one hand, Florida crushed Virginia to dust, which is good for America. On the other hand, Villanova lost to Wisconsin, which is bad for America, bad for Marquette fans that live within shouting distance of a Badgers fan, and specifically bad for the Big East’s bank account.
In the middle somewhere comes Gonzaga/Northwestern, which may have tilted on NU head coach Chris Collins getting T’d up for running onto the court during live action for correctly pointing out a missed goaltending call, Butler and Xavier giving the Big East multiple Sweet 16 teams for the first time since The Reformation, the really great Saint Mary’s/Arizona game, and the totally bonkers final 10 minutes of Purdue/Iowa State.
Check this out: With 10 minutes left, the Boilermakers were up by 13, 63-50 and had a 95% chance of winning the game. With three minutes left, THE CYCLONES led 73-71 and had a better than 66% chance of winning the game. It was the last game of the day, and if you went to bed instead of catching the end, you missed a wild one.
All of the games will be streamed though March Madness Live.
