Marquette Basketball At The 2017 NBA Las Vegas Summer League: July 10

A debut appearance for one guy, a show-stealing performance from another.

Atlanta Hawks 84, New Orleans Pelicans 82 - We saw 13 ties and 14 lead changes in this barnburner of a basketball game, but it came down to two free throws by Ryan Kelly with 22 seconds remaining and one final bad pass by the Pelicans for the Hawks to come away with the win.

New Orleans had a pair of 20 point scorers in Cheick Diallo (23) and Quinn Cook (25), but Atlanta countered with four guys hitting in double figures. John Collins led all ATL players with 22, and Wisconsin native Diamond Stone scored 11 points.

Trent Lockett saw his first Summer League action in this one, getting 12 minutes of action, but he did not register a point. He did add a rebound to Atlanta’s winning effort.

Los Angeles Clippers 86, Utah Jazz 67 - An 18-9 lead by the Jazz at the end of the first quarter was wiped away by a 31 point effort in the second period by the Clippers, and that was pretty much that for this game.

Guess who was a major factor in what the Clippers did on Sunday night? Former Marquette Golden Eagles forward Jamil Wilson.

That video clip shows how he scored 13 of his game-high (!) 18 points to help drive the Clippers to the 40-28 lead at halftime. FUN FACT: The video still missed two of the points he scored in that quarter! The Racine native rounded out his day with five rebounds and a block, all in just 16 minutes off the bench for Los Angeles.
