With the start of the first July evaluation period just a couple of days away, 2018 recruiting for Marquette took an interesting turn as top 50 forward Khavon Moore included MU in his top 12.

Moore is a 6’8”, 185 lb. small forward out of Macon, Georgia. 247 Sports rates him as a four-star prospect and ranks him #44 in the country in their Composite system. According to Hypesouth, the outlet that made his announcement, he averaged 23.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 2.7 steals as a junior for Westside High School.

Marquette has now been included in a cutdown list by two 2018 recruits, with Torrence Watson coming up as the other one. That doesn’t include Jeenathan Williams, who claims he is MU’s #1 recruit for the class, nor Noah Locke, who picked up a scholarship offer in early May. It also doesn’t include Joey Hauser, the top 30 forward from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and the younger brother of current Golden Eagle Sam Hauser.

This logjam of guys is relevant because Marquette projects to have only one scholarship available for the fall of 2018.

The fall signing period is still four months away, so we’re probably nowhere close to getting a resolution on any of this.
