The Basketball Tournament 2017: Midwest And West Region First Round Viewing Guide: How To Watch, Schedule, Time, and Streaming

IT’S BACK FOR WEEK #2! GET EXCITED!

After a wild and wacky opening weekend, the 2017 edition of The Basketball Tournament returns on Saturday for the opening round of play in the Midwest and West regions. That includes Golden Eagles, the squad consisting of Marquette alumni, who will be in action on Saturday night for their opening round game.

This week’s first round action goes above and beyond what last week provided us. Because games will be played in Peoria and Las Vegas, we get a staggered start to the day. The Midwest region will start two hours before the West region, and thus, the West region will still be going two hours after the Midwest wraps up for the day. This means two things:

  1. SIXTEEN STRAIGHT HOURS OF HOOPS AVAILABLE TO WATCH ON A SATURDAY IN JULY
  2. TBT AFTER DARK

Hopefully we do not also get #Pac12Refs to muck the whole thing up.

Obviously the highlight for Marquette fans is the Golden Eagles’ first round game against Midwest Dream Squad. There’s a lot of other things of note going on, most notably the final game of the day in the Midwest between Majerus SLU Crew and HBC, which will produce the potential opponent for the MU squad if they secure their own victory.

Elsewhere in the Midwest, there are five college alumni teams in action, including a team from Milwaukee (Banner Boys) and Ohio State (Scarlet & Gray). Greg Oden is officially out of the tournament, but S&G has added Jared Sullinger to replace him. Keep an eye on Always A Brave, last year’s Midwest region champion. As Bradley alumni, they’re essentially playing home games this weekend with Bradley University playing host to the tournament, but anything can happen in these games.

Over in the West, Team Colorado is the defending champion and the #1 seed. We have to keep an eye on Broad Street Brawlers, who made their way into the tournament through the Jamboree, as well as the #2 seeded Few Good Men, a squad of Gonzaga alumni. The Wasatch Front is Weber State alumni coached by former Wildcats guard Damian Lillard, and the Michael Rapaport fronted Stickmen wrap up the day. That roster has some dudes who can play on board, so it’ll be interesting to see what they can accomplish.
