Brooklyn Nets 75, Atlanta Hawks 72 - Five Nets players scored in double figures as Brooklyn Held off a charge from Atlanta to pick up the win in their first Summer League game.
The Nets led by 16 entering the final quarter, but a 12-2 run to open the period by Atlanta changed things very quickly, and a Bryce Cotton layup with 42 seconds remaining briefly pulled the Hawks within one at 73-72. Atlanta had a chance to win it late but coughed it up, leading to a Caris LeVert dunk for Brooklyn and DeAndre Bembry’s last second triple to tie it missed.
Former Marquette player Trent Lockett did not get off the bench for Atlanta in this game.

Los Angeles Clippers 96, Los Angeles Lakers 93 (OT) - The Clippers used free throw shooting to persevere in overtime and come away with the win to open up LVSL play on Friday night. LAC went 7-for-7 from the charity stripe in the extra session to balance out just one made field goal to get the three point victory.
Sindarius Thornwell, a name very familiar to Marquette fans after the 2017 NCAA tournament, led the Clippers with 26 points, while Brandon Ingram matched Thornwell’s total for the Lakers, including the shot that tied things at 87 with less than 30 seconds left in regulation.
Vander Blue got the starting nod for the Lakers, and went for 11 points, three rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes. He also chipped in a steal and a block along the way. Blue’s former Marquette teammate Jamil Wilson came off the bench for the Clippers and scored seven points on 3-of-4 shooting in 18 minutes of play. Odds are that he impressed the Clips’ coaching staff by wrapping up six rebounds and coming up with four steals in his playing time.
