By the time the 2:30 pm Central time window gets started today, there will be four American Athletic Conference games on national television. That is a lot of second rate football to kick off your day, and then there’s the 6pm Memphis-UCF game, too. All due respect to #18 South Florida, but they are the only thing in that league worth watching, and the mere fact that they’re playing East Carolina really takes the shine off of that apple. I feel like this is a weird byproduct of the ACC Network’s creation, which has essentially booted most of that league’s games to a digital only broadcast.... at least for the time being.
The two big games of the day are #24 Mississippi State at #13 Auburn, which gets an ESPN broadcast, and #2 Clemson at #12 Virginia Tech, which lands on ABC an hour later at 7pm. There’s also four more games that feature a ranked team on the road, including that aforementioned USF game. The most important of those four is probably the #7 Georgia vs Tennessee game, and that one has an afternoon kickoff. Don’t overlook the #15 Oklahoma State/Texas Tech game as a fun watch, by the way. The lowest scoring output between those two teams this season is 27 points and both of those squads allow a ton of points, too.
Here’s your schedule for the day, and don’t forget about Marquette men’s soccer against Georgetown at noon as well as volleyball hosting DePaul at 6pm.
