Your College Basketball Saturday Viewing Guide: January 27, 2018

NCAA Football: William & Mary at Virginia
Virginia is the highest ranked team playing on Saturday. Heaven help us all.
Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Somehow, even though most of the Big 12 is ranked right now and the SEC is experiencing something of an up year, we’re getting no games between two ranked teams as a part of today’s Big 12/SEC Challenge.

This is not due to lack of trying, though. Kentucky is in Morgantown to play West Virginia, and this was supposed to be the main event of the day. Not only is it the last game of the day in the crossover between the two leagues, but Kentucky just this past Monday slipped out of the top 25 for the first time since 2014. Can’t really blame the organizers, can you? Same thing goes for Texas A&M going on the road against Kansas, as the Aggies were expected to be better than their current 1-4 record in the SEC.

As fun as all of those challenge games will be, there’s a lot of other interesting games on the slate today, with 13 total games involving a ranked team. There’s only one game between two ranked foes, and that’s the Virginia vs Duke game. I can not recommend that you watch this, though. The day is slightly diminished by the fact that there’s five games with ranked teams involved on Sunday, as the TV networks take advantage of the bye week before the Super Bowl to get in some good hoops.

Still, though, a nice long stretch of 31 games with a national broadcast today, and that’s never a bad thing.

Here’s your schedule for the day! Enjoy!
