Well, shoutout to Arizona and Arizona State, apparently.

Thanks to two weekend losses by then-#12 Oregon, there was some moving space in the newest AVCA top 25 poll. As a result, YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles have moved from the #20 team in the country last week to #19 this week. As was the case last week and three weeks ago, this is an all-new program best ever ranking in the coaches poll for Marquette.

Marquette earned 420 points in this week’s poll, up from 365 points a week ago. #18 Kentucky snagged 533 points, while #20 Oregon has 409.

Things stayed mostly the same for the Marquette opponents in the polling this week. BYU strengthened their grip on the #1 ranking yet again, grabbing 60 first place votes after having 58 last week. Wisconsin dipped one spot from #5 to #6, while Creighton stayed steady at #10. USC freed themselves from a tie for #13 and jumped up to #12, and Baylor fell from #21 to #23.

Only Northern Iowa remains in the Receiving Votes department for notable teams in terms of the Marquette schedule. The Panthers earned six points this week after running their Missouri Valley record to 4-0. Kansas State dropped out of the polling, or at least into “appeared on only one ballot” land, after losing to West Virginia and TCU since last Monday.

Marquette returns to action on Wednesday when they host Xavier at the McGuire Center for a Kids’ Day matinee match. MU will follow that up with a road trip to DePaul on Saturday afternoon.
