Marquette Men’s Soccer Is No Longer Receiving United Soccer Coaches Poll Votes

RULE #1: Don’t lose three games in a week.

Last week, Marquette men’s soccer had a record of 2-0-0 and as a result, earned 22 points in the United Soccer Coaches top 25 poll.

Since that poll was released, Marquette has lost three matches, and to the surprise of no one, they are no longer receiving votes in the most recent poll.

That’s not ideal.

As was the case last week, there are two teams on Marquette’s schedule in the latest top 25. However, it’s not the same two as last week. Villanova moved up two spots to #13 after defeating Penn State over the last week, while Creighton jumped into the poll at #25. The Jays are now 3-1-1 on the year after shutting out Memphis on Friday night in Omaha.

Creighton takes the place of Georgetown in terms of ranked MU opponents, and the Hoyas are still earning votes this week. They have 24 points in the polling, just five fewer than Michigan. MU’s other opponent that pops up in the Receiving Votes category.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday night when they kick off Big East play for the year by hosting — hey, would you look at this — #13 Villanova. First kick is set for 7pm at Valley Fields.
