2020 Top 70 Prospect Zeb Jackson Has Marquette In His Final Seven

It’s a pretty strong list for the Ohio native.

Amidst the nonsense and tomfoolery of 2019 prospects scheduling visits to Milwaukee and then committing elsewhere before even taking those visits, a 2020 prospect has elected to trim his recruiting list down and include Marquette.

Zeb Jackson, a shooting guard from Ohio, cut things down to this group on Friday afternoon: Marquette, Purdue, Michigan, Butler, Arizona State, Michigan State, and of course the home state Ohio State Buckeyes.

As befitting a guy with that level of recruiting attention, Jackson is a fairly high level recruit. 247 Sports rates the 6’2”, 160 pound Maumee, Ohio, native as a four star prospect and ranks him as the #66 player in the class of 2020 in their Composite system. He’s the #18 shooting guard and the #2 player in the state of Ohio.

Marquette originally offered a scholarship to Jackson back in mid-July of this year, right in the middle of the fast and furious recruiting season. At the time, Jackson was merely the #100 player in the recruiting class, so either boo to scouting evaluators for getting things wrong or yay to Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski for getting ahead of things.

The 2020 recruiting class looks to be a very important one for Marquette. Here’s the scholarship chart as it currently stands:

As you can see, Marquette is projected to be losing a notable core of four players after the 2019-20 season, including Markus Howard and Sam Hauser. Those guys have already done a bunch of heavy lifting for MU in the past two years and the next two years should be no different. It will take a few high impact prospects to replace that kind of talent on the roster, not to mention what Ed Morrow and Sacar Anim bring to the table.

Zeb Jackson moves to the front of the line to some degree when it comes to Marquette and 2020 prospects. The MU staff has been out to see Jalen Suggs (#12) and Dain Dainja (#56) in Minnesota recently, as well as out east to catch up with Symir Torrence (#50). Marquette has offers out to a number of top 100 prospects, including Wisconsin’s very own Jalen Johnson (#5), but we’re still well over a year away from these guys being able to sign a letter of intent.
