Your College Football Saturday Viewing Guide: September 8, 2018

We’ve got every top five team in action and a nice section of ranked squads on the road! PREPARE FOR INSANITY!

WELCOME BACK TO THE INSANITY THAT IS COLLEGE FOOTBALL!

There are A LOT of college football games on national television today. I count 27 of them, with another eight getting the “regional coverage” designation from their television provider. That’s a lot of action to keep you busy all day, and that’s without even touching on ACC Network Extra, ESPN3, or ESPN+ on streaming options or even the vaguely available Pac-12 Network.

We’ve got 15 games with at least one ranked team involved today, which is pretty good. Only two of them feature two ranked foes. One is the probable best game of the day with #3 Georgia visiting #24 South Carolina, which also gets an honor as one of Anonymous Eagle’s official College Football Anarchy games of the day. The other ranked teams game gets a main event viewing slot tonight when #17 USC visits #10 Stanford. Sadly, it doesn’t officially qualify as #Pac12AfterDark because it’s only going to be 5:30pm in California at kick off.

We’ve got four other ranked teams out on the road today against unranked opponents, and that’s always a recipe for the possibility of something wild happening. We get nuts right out of the gate with #18 Mississippi State heading to Manhattan to face Kansas State. In the evening, we get #2 Clemson at Texas A&M and #13 Penn State at Pittsburgh. Let me tell you: Sad Pitt Bear stands at the ready for the Panthers to lose this game in a horrible fashion one way or another. The last nationally televised game to start today is #15 Michigan State at Arizona State. It’s going to be the first big time game for the Herm Edwards regime at ASU, and there is a non-zero chance that something bonkers happens as a result. REMINDER: Last week was the first time that Herm Edwards had coached in a college game since 1989, and it was a 49-7 mauling of UT-San Antonio. You or I could have coached the Sun Devils to a win there. What will happen when Herm plays a team that’s ostensibly much better than his own? LET’S FIND OUT TOGETHER.

Your official list of ANARCHY~! watch games of the day:

Arkansas State at #1 Alabama
#2 Clemson at Texas A&M
#3 Georgia at #24 South Carolina
Rutgers at #4 Ohio State
New Mexico at #5 Wisconsin

Hey, that’s all five ranking spots that we cheer against each week! Two of them are on the road against Power Five opponents! NEAT. Fingers crossed for something dumb.

Here’s the schedule for the day. There’s a couple of spots of regional coverage marked with a ** in there, so take that under advisement as needed. Enjoy!
