Let’s just go ahead and get out in front of this one:
How angry are we going to be if/when #13 Florida State makes use of their home court advantage and beats #1 Duke today? It’s clearly the best game of the day, and it’s the #1 team in the country going on the road against a top 15 team. I’ve got my own feelings about court storming in general (someone is going to get frighteningly hurt and then what are you going to do) but other than that, I don’t care who/when/where/why storms any court and/or field. But if FSU gets the win (they’re not favored by KenPom, FWIW), and the Tucker Center crowd loses their cool, I can already anticipate the faux outrage.
So someone let me know how angry we’re going to be so I can prepare. After all, that game is going to be going at the same time as Marquette vs Seton Hall, so I’m not going to be paying very close attention while at Fiserv Forum.
Elsewhere on the docket, we’ve got five more ranked teams going on the road in a nationally televised contest today: #3 Tennessee, #5 Gonzaga, #7 Kansas, #10 Nevada, and #16 Ohio State. There’s varying degrees of reasons why all of these teams need to win today, but I’d especially keep my eye on the Gonzaga/San Francisco game. If you take anything from Bracket Matrix seriously at this point of the season, then you’ll see that the Dons are just barely on the outside of the NCAA tournament cut line right now. A win over Gonzaga, even at home, would go a long, long way to putting “no not that USF” into the field of 68.
There’s also the situation circling the Nevada game. The Wolf Pack bounced back from getting run out of the gym by New Mexico by smashing San Jose State by 39 on Wednesday night. That game was at home, though, and Saturday’s contest against Fresno State is on the road against a Bulldogs team that, at least according to the chances of victory listed on KenPom, will pose the biggest threat to Nevada until their trip to Utah State late in the season.
Here’s the schedule for the day! Enjoy!
