Inside Lacrosse released their 2019 men’s lacrosse preseason poll on Monday, and YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles...... are not ranked in the top 20.

Such is life.

However! The Golden Eagles are the unofficial #22 team in the country, as they are sitting down in the receiving votes department right behind Robert Morris. It’s unclear how many points Marquette may or may not have earned in the inaugural edition of the media poll, but we can say that Michigan landed in the #20 spot with 78 points.

As to be expected, Marquette’s 2019 schedule is stacked to the brim with teams in the preseason top 20. Here’s the list:

Duke: #2
Denver: #8
Notre Dame: #11
Ohio State: #16
Georgetown: #19
Michigan: #20

There’s also the aforementioned RMU team in the receiving votes area with Marquette, along with Villanova, and Jacksonville. To put it succinctly, Marquette is going to get more than their fair share of chances to prove to the decision makers whether or not they deserve a spot in the NCAA tournament this season.

After hosting preseason #7 Johns Hopkins at the Andy Glockner Memorial Bubble for an exhibition game this coming Saturday, Marquette will officially kick off the 2019 campaign on Saturday, February 9th when they host Bellarmine at Valley Fields. First draw is set for 11am Central.
