The new AVCA poll came out on Monday as it is wont to do, and with two new wins in their pocket, Marquette moved up a spot in the top 25. They are now the #11 team in the country, up from #12 a week ago.
Marquette earned 924 points this week, placing them between two very familiar names. Creighton is your #10 team in the country this week, picking up a cool 1,000 points right on the number. BYU is the #12 team this week, snagging 875 points.
Baylor, one of just three teams to beat Marquette this year, is still the #1 team in the country, earning their spot with 61 of the 64 first place votes. Wisconsin stayed steady at #6 this week. Creighton is up one spot and into the top 10, taking advantage of BYU dropping from #9 to #12. Illinois, joining Baylor and Creighton as the only teams to beat MU, stayed steady at #17 this week.
Feels an awful lot like the top 25 is starting to lock into place unless some big upset losses happen to shake things up, doesn’t it?
There are no Marquette opponents in the receiving votes department this week, as is seemingly turning into a standard issue item this year.
Marquette returns to action on Friday when they kick off a weekend road trip with a visit to St. John’s. First serve is set for 6pm Central, and for the moment, it appears that there will not be any streaming for that one. Buncha jerks in New York, amirite?
