2019 NCAA Tournament: Marquette Will Face Murray State In The First Round

WE’RE BACK, BAYBAY~!

NCAA Basketball: Wisconsin at Marquette Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

After a brief detour into the NIT last season, Marquette men’s basketball is back in the NCAA tournament in 2019!

The Golden Eagles earned an at-large bid to the field of 68. According to the CBS Sports broadcast on Sunday evening, the Golden Eagles have earned a #5 seed in the bracket and will be playing #12 seed Murray State in the first round. That game will be played on Thursday in Hartford, Connecticut, where the winner will advance to play either #4 seed Florida State or #13 seed Vermont.

Marquette entered Selection Sunday with a record of 24-9. The Golden Eagles went 12-6 in Big East action, finishing in second place. We all know that MU struggled down the stretch, losing five of their last six games including their last four regular season games, but I’d like to offer you this note to think about: Marquette was 19-3 when playing a team for the first time this season. Pick against the Golden Eagles in your bracket at your own peril.

It’s going to be a minute or seven or 60 before we find out when exactly the game will start and what television channel will be showing it, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
