It’s the third straight drop for the Golden Eagles after their third straight Friday night loss.

After starting off Big East play 12-0, Marquette women’s basketball has gone 3-3 to close the regular season with losses on each of the past Friday nights. The latest loss has once again cost MU spots in the Associated Press top 25 poll. The Golden Eagles are down to #17 in the most recent and newest poll.

Marquette picked up 268 points this week. Miami dropped one spot to land at #16 with 289 points, while Syracuse dropped one spot as well to #18 with 239 points. This would normally be the spot where I tell you about how the individual voters went on Marquette this week, but for whatever reason, that spreadsheet isn’t in the AP’s release with the full top 25, at least not right now.

Notre Dame is the top Marquette opponent from this season in the poll this week. The Irish are sitting at #4, and they’re followed straight behind by Mississippi State at #5. Both squads are in the same spot as they were last week. The aforementioned Hurricanes are sitting one spot in front of Marquette this week, and that’s it for MU foes in the poll. Just like the individual ballots are not on the page right now, neither are the receiving votes teams. Oh well.

Marquette is off until next Sunday when they start off their run in the Big East tournament. They’ll play at noon Central as the #1 seed in the field, but they won’t know who they play until St. John’s and Seton Hall play each other in the first round on Saturday.
