Let’s see, what do we all have going on today?
The Big South, MAAC, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, and West Coast all continue their conference tournaments. So that’s fun. We get semifinal action in the Big South and Ohio Valley, so that’s pretty neat. The OVC does a thing where they keep the top two teams — Belmont and Murray State, in this case — out of action until the semis, so it’s the first action in the tourney that they’ll see. Plus, it’s on ESPNU, which is fun.
I personally like the MAAC tournament for some weird reason that I can’t quite explain. In any case, Iona is my favorite MAAC team, and they are the #1 seed and playing in the quarterfinals this evening. I like Tim Cluess’ whole deal, and suggest that you tune in if you like to watch interesting and fun basketball.
We also get the first day of action in the SoCon. It’s really just preamble to what comes down the road, as there’s a little bit on the line in the SoCon. See, Wofford is currently shaping up as a #7 seed in the tournament according to Bracket Matrix, and Furman and UNC-Greensboro are in the “next four out.” But none of those teams are playing today. I’m just telling you to be prepared for nuttiness in the SoCon tourney as we keep it moving down the road.
All times Central.
