If you sleep on the recruiting cycle in college basketball, then the recruiting cycle sleeps on you.
Did it make sense? Okay, probably not, but you get the general idea of things here, right? Coaches need to be moving on the recruiting trails regularly in order to keep their programs moving in the direction that they want them to go.
As such, we have a new scholarship offer from Marquette women’s basketball to discuss. It appears that new head coach Megan Duffy has extended a scholarship offer to Class of 2022 prospect Alyssa Crockett.
Alyssa Crockett, Westfield HS/Indiana Elite Platinum - Class of 2022, has received a scholarship offer from Coach Duffy and Coach Raterman at Marquette University. Congratulations Alyssa! @CoachMeganDuffy @jcraterman @3Stripewbb pic.twitter.com/SVOZ8k4yXD

Let’s start here: According to Prep Girls Hoops, Crocket is a 6’1” forward hailing from Westfield, Indiana, which could very generously be called a suburb of Indianapolis. MaxPreps says the same thing about Crockett’s height, and specifically says she’s a small forward.
Continuing down the MaxPreps rabbit hole, her Westfield High School team went 15-8 last season. They ended the year with four straight losses, it appears, including a 53-34 defeat in their first game of the 4A state tournament. As a freshman on the roster, Crockett averaged 10.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks. That’s the team lead in points, rebounds, and blocks, and she just barely missed out on the other two. Again, yes, that’s as a freshman.
That’s about all I can really seem to pull up on her. Oh, well, also that Prep Girls Hoops has her at #5 in the state of Indiana in the Class of 2022. Of course, it’s also crazy early in all of their careers, so we’ll see how that goes.
Crockett has a Hudl page, but it’s really out of date at this point. The most recent video is over a year old, meaning it’s still showing you footage of before she entered high school. Here’s a longer clip, coming in at about 90 seconds of mostly skills work from over a year ago.
2022 is a loooong time away for Marquette. As things stand right this second, Chloe Marotta is the only player slotted to be exiting the program following the 2021-22 season. Of course, there’s a multitude of things that can happen between now and then, particularly with the Golden Eagles going into the 2019-20 season with two open scholarship spots available.
Here’s what the scholarship picture looks like right now.
