I hope you like far flung future news.
On Thursday, Minnesota Class of 2022 prospect Trejuan Holloman announced that he has received a scholarship offer from Marquette men’s basketball.

Yes, that’s the Class of 2022. That is the class that will be starting their sophomore year in about a month. No, Marquette is not the first Division 1 program to offer Holloman a scholarship. According to 247 Sports, they’re sixth in line behind Baylor, Texas, and four Big Ten teams, including his native Minnesota, where he attends Cretin-Derham Hall High School in Saint Paul.
Officially, as far as we’re concerned here, Holloman is unrated and unranked. We prefer the 247 Sports Composite system around these parts, and they’re not ranking Class of 2022 prospects quite yet. Holloman does have a 247 Sports page, though, where we learn that they list him at 6’1” and 165 pounds. Given that he’s entering his sophomore year of high school in a month, that’s just fine. In terms of getting an idea of rankings, I am willing to point out that Future150.com says he’s the #27 player in the class and tops in the state of Minnesota.
It appears that the only embeddable video that’s worthwhile for Holloman is his eighth grade mixtape. Please take the three-plus minutes of highlights there with an enormous grain of salt, and then also go watch this 45 second clip of him at USA Basketball Junior National Team camp this past December. There he’s playing against guys who are much more aligned with his skill level as opposed to what might be wildly overmatched 14 year olds.
Here’s how far off the fall of 2022 is right now: There are currently no players on the Marquette roster who have played in a single official college game that will still be on the roster then. Dexter Akanno and Symir Torrence will be seniors then. It’s nearly damn impossible to know how much of an impact that recruiting class will need to have for the Golden Eagles, but for now, MU projects to have two scholarships coming available to be filled.
Here’s what the scholarship situation looks like right now.
