SHOUTS TO LUKE DECOCK!
After a long, terrible week without any votes in the Associated Press top 25 poll, Marquette men’s basketball is back on the board this week, thanks to the esteemed Mr. DeCock from the Raleigh News & Observer. He gave the Golden Eagles the #24 spot in his ballot this week, and as a result, MU has two points in the voting this week. This ties them with BYU Cougars as the unofficial #44 team in America.
There are currently four teams on Marquette’s schedule this season in the AP top 25. Three of them are Big East teams, and all three are in the top 25. Villanova has jumped up five spots to #9 this week, while Seton Hall has also gotten into the top 10 at exactly #10. Butler has fallen out of the top 10, going from #5 last week to #13 this week. Maryland is the only ranked non-conference opponent, holding steady at #17 in the new poll.
Four more MU opponents are earning votes in the poll just like the Golden Eagles. Wisconsin is at 28 points in this edition of the balloting, followed by Creighton (13 points), Purdue (9), and USC (4).
Marquette returns to action on Tuesday night when they host St. John’s at Fiserv Forum. Tipoff on FS1 is scheduled for 8pm Central time.
