Your College Basketball Saturday Viewing Guide: January 4, 2020

Hello and welcome to the first college hoops Saturday of the year.

There are 29 college basketball games on national television today. That’s pretty good, even with NFL playoff action sucking up valuable real estate across the various broadcast platforms. 13 of the 29 have at least one ranked team involved, and those games are spread out across the day, all the way from 11 am when things get started to 9pm when the last televised games of the day get going.

Based on rankings involved, the best game of the day is #18 Florida State going on the road to visit #7 Louisville. That’s the best one of the two games with ranked teams butting heads, easily beating out #23 Iowa making the trip to.... wait, is this right? #21 Penn State? Pat Chambers has the Nittany Lions in the top 25? Holy crap. Sadly, both of these games are happening at the same time, so make sure your “previous channel” button is functional.

While they don’t have two ranked teams facing off, the final two undefeated teams in the country play road games today. #8 Auburn go on the road to face Mississippi State, while #13 San Diego State makes the trip to Logan to see Utah State. Both ranked teams are favored to win, even on the road, but only by a little bit.

There’s also #2 Duke on the road against Miami in ACC play. The Blue Devils are favored fairly heavily to win, but it’s still a league game on the road in a top conference. Anything can happen.

Here’s the full national television schedule for the day, with all times Central, as always.
