IT’S GONZAGA-SAINT MARY’S DAY!

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Kansas State Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

HELLO AND WELCOME to one of the most cherished days of the college basketball schedule: GONZAGA-SAINT MARY’S DAY~!

Look, let’s be honest here. Gonzaga is good. Very good. You should probably watch them more than you do. However, once that calendar flips from December to January..... it gets tough to decide to stay up til 11pm Central to watch a Gonzaga game when they’re smashing Santa Clara — who is actually not terrible this year! — by 50, as they did back on January 16th. I get it.

Year in and year out, though, there’s two games you can count on to be worth watching, and one in particular: Gonzaga’s yearly West Coast Conference road trip to Saint Mary’s in Moraga. That’s tonight. KenPom.com says the Zags have just a 58% chance of winning. If there’s a time to be tuning in to see Filip Petrusev, Corey Kispert, and friends, then tonight is the night! WOO!

It’s a big day for Big East fans like us, because Marquette’s conference is the home to the biggest game on national television today. That’s #12 Seton Hall visiting #10 Villanova, coming at you live on Fox this afternoon. It’s one of just two games today featuring two ranked teams. The other one comes at you right out of the gate, as #18 LSU makes the trip to #11 Auburn. #12 vs #10 is obviously more important nationally speaking than #18 vs #11, so obviously the Big East game is a bigger deal.

In addition to the three games I’ve already highlighted for you here — Gonzaga is ranked #2, by the way — there are six more games with a ranked team on the road against an unranked foe today. #16 Michigan State at Michigan is probably the biggest one of that group, although don’t overlook #4 San Diego State’s quest to remain unbeaten while on the road against Air Force, either.

Here’s the full national television schedule for the day, with all times Central as always.
