Your College Basketball Saturday Viewing Guide: January 30, 2021

One of the best regular season Saturdays of the year in men’s college basketball is Big 12/SEC Challenge Day. Sure, regular Saturdays in conference season are fun, but getting a full day devoted to two conferences squaring off and throwing down? That’s pretty great.

The headliner in the inter-conference series this year is #15 Kansas taking their whole deal to Knoxville to tangle with #18 Tennessee. It’s probably the best game of the day, as the other two contests with two ranked teams squaring off on national television have the two teams a little further apart in the rankings. With that said, #9 Alabama testing themselves against #24 Oklahoma sounds like a hoot, too.

The third and final ranked team clash of the day is #8 Virginia traveling down the road a bit to see in-state rival #20 Virginia Tech. Is there bad blood in this rivalry? I have no real idea, but it seems like this one is a big deal with both sides ranked and the Cavs as the last unbeaten team in league action.

If that’s not enough to hold your attention today, there’s seven more games with a ranked team going out on the road today. In a year where home court advantage means a little less than it normally would, maybe there’s less of a chance of an upset. But there’s still a chance, and that’s fun.
