Hailey Block was the difference on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields as Marquette women’s soccer picked up the 1-0 win over Seton Hall. The Golden Eagles are now 7-4-0 on the year and 3-1-0 in Big East play, which means MU has inched into a tie for second place in the conference at the moment.

Let’s fast forward through a fairly competitive first half to a second half where the Golden Eagles seized control of the match. Across the final 45 minutes of this match, Marquette outshot the Pirates 11-3 with five of those coming in the first 15 minutes after halftime. Shot #6? Block’s goal.

Check out that timing from Block on the bouncing ball to get as much power as possible to rifle it into the back of the net! So good.

Tack on one save by MU’s Mikki Easter in the 89th minute to wrap up her fifth shutout of the year, and bada bing, that’s a 1-0 win for the home team.
