Yadhira Anchante Named Big East Offensive Player of the Week

Let's go to the Marquette press release on the details, since that's almost always more elaborate: For the week, she averaged 11.57 assists and 3.14 digs per set, while helping MU hit a combined .360. Anchante also averaged 1.86 kills herself and hit .542. She began the week with 35 assists, nine digs and a service ace in a sweep of DePaul on Wednesday and recorded her first career triple-double in NCAA play with 10 kills, 46 assists and 13 digs against Butler on Saturday night. The native of Lima, Peru ranks third in the BIG EAST in assists (10.27 per set) and is sixth in service aces with 17 on the year (0.38/set). As a team, the Golden Eagles are hitting a league-high .286 with Anchante at the helm, and lead the BIG EAST in kills with 14.11 per frame.

Kate Gibson Named Big East Offensive Player of the Week

Here's what the league said about Marquette sophomore forward Kate Gibson's week: In a 2-0-0 week for Marquette, Gibson had one goal and two assists in the Golden Eagles’ 4-1 win at Butler. The sophomore forward had the second-most points in the league last week with four and tied for third-most points per game. She also had two shots on goal in the win at Butler and had one shot in Marquette’s 3-2 win at DePaul. Midfielder Mia Haertle picked up a Weekly Honor Roll nod as well this week. Here's the rundown from the league office: M ade one goal in Marquette’s 3-2 win at DePaul; helped the Golden Eagles outshoot the Blue Demons 18-10; facing 15 shots at Butler on Sunday, she helped Marquette limit the Bulldogs to just four shots on goal.

Chandler Hallwood named Big East Goalkeeper of the Week

Here's how Marquette wrote it up: Senior Chandler Hallwood was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance against Xavier on Saturday. In the lone game he played last week, Hallwood earned the clean sheet as he held the Musketeers off the score sheet for the first time this season and helped MU earn its first road point over a nationally-ranked squad since 2014. He faced 17 shots in the contest, making four saves. This is his second Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season, and the fourth of his career. In addition to Hallwood's major award, Alex Mirsberger was included on the Weekly Honor Roll. Here's the MU explanation: Senior defender Alex Mirsberger was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after a massive three-goal performance against Milwaukee on Tuesday and anchoring the Marquette defense to a clean sheet on the road against No. 19 Xavier on Saturday. Scoring all three goal in the first 33 minutes against Milwaukee, he became the first Marquette player to have a hat trick since 2011 and the first defender in all of NCAA Division I to have a hat trick since 2019.

Aubrey Hamilton on Big East Weekly Honor Roll

Let's turn to the Marquette press release on the topic, since that's always more informative: Hamilton led the Golden Eagles to wins over Green Bay, then-No. 25 Illinois and Illinois State while leading the squad in points. For the week, she hit .316 with 3.09 kills and 2.73 digs per set. She finished one kill behind Jenna Reitsma for the team kills lead with 34, while recording five service aces and six blocks. Her 30 total digs were second to libero Carly Skrabak for the team lead. The native of Hartland, Wisconsin hit .560 (15-1-25) with a match-high 15 kills in the sweep of Illinois State on Sunday along with nine digs, a pair of service aces and three blocks. She opened the week by hitting .381 (11-3-21) against Green Bay and set a new career high with 16 digs in Saturday's win over Illinois.

Carsen Murray on Big East Honor Roll

You can go read the league office's quick blurb on Murray's honor, but the Marquette one is more detailed: The All-BIG EAST Preseason Team selection averaged 1.45 blocks per set, while hitting .350 in wins over Loyola Chicago, LSU and Green Bay. Murray posted seven kills on .385 hitting in Saturday's win over LSU and notched all six of her blocks in the pivotal fourth set. She also added six blocks against Loyola on Tuesday and had four in the sweep of Milwaukee on Sunday.

Kate Jochims Named Cross Country Athlete Of The Week

Here's how the league wrote it up: "Jochims took individual honors at the Walt Crawford Open hosted by Eastern Illinois. The junior ran the 5K race at the Tom Woodall Panther Trail in 18:22.5. The Golden Eagles captured team first-place honors in the six-team field." Marquette was racing against UIC, Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Vincennes, and Kaskaskia College. Jochims won by nine seconds over the next closest runner and 14 seconds ahead of teammate Emily Noone.

Big East Renews Broadcasting Deal With FloSports

It's not clear from the press release, but I presume that the 2022-23 school year will be the first of the three years in the extension of the agreement between the two parties.
