IT’S BIG EAST MEDIA DAY!

WOOOOOOOO!

Ok, so maybe it’s not that exciting. But still, it’s a waypoint on the road to the start of the college basketball season, so it’s still pretty exciting.

If you’re looking to get ready for the day, may I suggest checking out our picks for both the men’s basketball and women’s basketball preseason awards? We’ll find out the Big East’s official award winners throughout the day, and you can always check back with those articles to point and laugh at where we were wrong.

IF WE WERE WRONG ABOUT ANY OF THEM MOO HOO HA HA HA HA HA.

Anyway.

Things get started bright and early at Madison Square Garden. At 8:25am Central time, the league will start broadcasting live from The Garden via the Big East Digital Network on Fox Sports Go, and I’d wager that we’ll find out the award winners right around then. That will be the men’s basketball programming only, though, as the women’s programming will get going at 12:25pm Central, again on Fox Sports Go.

In terms of Marquette’s participation in the event, sophomore Markus Howard and redshirt senior Andrew Rowsey will be joining men’s head coach Steve Wojciechowski. Over on the women’s side of the aisle, head coach Carolyn Kieger brought juniors Allazia Blockton, Natisha Hiedeman, and Erika Davenport to New York.

If there’s news coming out of media day, we’ll update this as needed. That will mean the award winners for sure (although they’ll get their own individual articles as well), as well as any high profile quotes or what have you. It won’t be a live blog of the FSGo programming, though.

UPDATE (8:03am): Your 2017-18 Big East men’s basketball preseason awards!

Marquette is picked to finish seventh in the league this season, and Markus Howard has been named to the all-Big East Second Team.

UPDATE (8:51am): Marquette women’s basketball is the unanimous pick to win the Big East this season, and junior Allazia Blockton is the unanimous pick as preseason Player of the Year. Blockton is joined in league honors by fellow juniors Erika Davenport and Natisha Hiedeman, who are on the 11 player all-Big East team.
