Carsen Murray named Defensive Player of the Week
Here's what the Big East said about Marquette's star middle blocker: Murray anchored a Marquette squad that refused to relinquish a set, sweeping St. John’s and Seton Hall to clinch a share of the BIG EAST regular season title. The middle blocker averaged 1.33 blocks per set while hitting a league-best .611. Against the third-seeded Red Storm, Murray logged three blocks and four kills on .667 hitting. The following day she produced a match-bets five blocks with even kills and a dig. Through the weekend, Murray did not have a single hitting error. In addition, Aubrey Hamilton was on the Weekly Honor Roll. Here's the writeup: Hamilton led Marquette with a team-best 4.67 points per set as the Golden Eagles secured their third consecutive regular season title. This week, the senior ranked 2nd in the BIG EAST in service aces (4, 0.67/set), 3rd in points (4.67/set), and 9th in kills (21, 3.50/set). In Saturday’s sweep of Seton Hall, Hamilton led both teams with 11 kills.

Here's what the league office said: Reitsma was a crucial cog in Marquette’s offensive machine this week, averaging 3.86 kills and 5.64 points per set on .407 hitting. In Friday’s 3-0 victory over Georgetown, Reitsma registered a career-best seven service aces in addition to nine kills. On Saturday, she produced a match-best 18 kills in addition to 11 digs, three service aces, and two blocks in a 3-1 defeat of Villanova.

Here's what the Big East office had to say about Marquette's libero: Kushner averaged a BIG EAST-best 5.83 digs per set and a pair of aces in two sweeps this weekend over Providence and UConn. She tied for a match-high with 15 digs against the Friars on Friday along with three assists and an ace. On Saturday against the Huskies, the graduate student recorded a match-high 20 digs alongside four assists and an ace.

Here's the Big East's words on Marquette volleyball libero Sarah Kushner being named Defensive Player of the Week: Kushner averaged 5.17 digs per set as Marquette refused to relinquish a set this weekend, defeating Butler and Xavier in straight sets. Against Butler (W, 3-0), Kushner posted a match-high 19 digs with a pair of assists. At Xavier (W, 3-0), the libero produced 12 digs, five assists, and a service ace. With the victories, the Golden Eagles reclaimed their position atop BIG EAST standings. And here's what they said about Ella Foti's spot on the Weekly Honor Roll: Playing in her first career matches as Marquette’s primary setter this weekend, Foti averaged 9.17 assists per set. With Foti’s helpers, the Golden Eagles hit .342 in sweeps of Butler and Xavier. Additionally, the junior combined for 11 digs, eight kills, and two blocks.

3 Marquette Players Earn Big East Weekly Recognition
First, Aubrey Hamilton is Offensive Player of the Week: Hamilton led the Golden Eagles to a pair of sweeps over DePaul and No. 15 Creighton. The BIG EAST preseason favorites remain perfect in conference play (6-0) and are the only team undefeated in league competition. On the week, Hamilton hit a combined .364 with 24 kills (4.00/set) across six sets, adding 12 digs (2.00/set) and three blocks. In Wednesday’s midweek matchup versus DePaul, Hamilton hit .346 with 11 kills, nine digs, and a block. During Friday’s sweep of No. 15 Creighton, the senior registered a match-best 13 kills on .379 hitting with an ace, three digs, and two blocks. Next, Hattie Bray is Defensive Player of the Week: Bray powered a Marquette defense that refused to relinquish a set this week, defeating conference rivals DePaul and No. 15 Creighton in straight sets. She contributed 1.50 blocks per set to a Marquette frontline that averaged 3.00 blocks per frame. Against DePaul, Bray registered a team-high four blocks before producing a match-best five blocks against No. 15 Creighton. Furthermore, Bray hit .343 on the week, highlighted by a ten-kill performance versus No. 15 Creighton on .412 hitting. Next, Sarah Kushner made the Weekly Honor Roll: Kushner averaged 4.67 digs per set in a 2-0 week for Marquette, highlighted by sweeps of DePaul and No. 15 Creighton. The graduate student notched a match-high 16 digs in Friday’s win over the Jays.
